The First Time I Made Money Online

I raided my bookshelf, found any book worth at least $10 on Ebay and listed it. I sold one book within one day. Two weeks later, I've sold 2 books, 20% of my inventory. Total profit: ? And now I'm a full time reseller.

Packaging the books is easy. I haven't had to spend any money yet. I already had a roll of packaging tape. I had just enough Amazon boxes to ship the two books. I'm now kicking myself for cleaning out my shed. I had been saving boxes in there for months. I had the space. I thought somebody could use them to move. 🪨 Then one day I hosted a garage sale with my mom, the boxes were in the way and I threw them all into the dumpster. Six weeks later I'm deep into an eBay obsession with plans of dumpster diving to save money on packaging materials and maybe find something to resell. 

I went to the thrift store with my mom. She looked for clothes while I scanned every textbook and niche hobby book. I blew my stack and then some. I got caught up in the excitement and let ChatGPT talk me into buying 20 books for $15 that will probably only sell for $45. I'm sticking to books for now. It's the easiest thing to get started with. Take a picture of the book using the search bar in eBay, click sold items, and if it's recently sold for $10+ snatch it up to list it. They only cost 75 cents. 🔑 And they're ridiculously easy to package. I'm wrapping them in plastic wrap (I've hoarded this stuff for years and almost never use it; I've gotten it from my cleaning company and doing quite a lot of move out cleans) and then wrapping them in cardboard using a video I found on YouTube explaining the process. 

I'm using a personal credit card that I completely paid off and repurposed for business (need Chat GPT's advice about oversharing here). That card is nearly at it's limit, but had $150 available credit. Surely this isn't the way to live.⛰️ Supposedly credit card interest is tax deductible for businesses, so I've got that going for me. I obviously need to get out of credit card debt, though. Or maybe, maybe I just stop paying...

I just want to make money. It’s a very simple thing. Or, at least, I think it should be.
