To LLC or Not to LLC
Well friends, I once again am stuck at work. Yesterday a very exciting thing happened. Someone tried to hand me money. Fifty dollars to mow her lawn. It would have taken an hour. I had the time. I did not actually have insurance coverage, so I suppose that opened me up to any liability in a bad way. Not that insurance is trustworthy. I'm sure if I filed a claim they would do everything in their power to pretend I hadn't paid them for insurance and that any claim I made was null and void. Those people are awful.
But, the sheer excitement of the situation was one of the best things to happen to me in a very long time! Money in an outstretched hand is such an incredible feeling. I used to work for myself. I had forgotten just how different it is for that phone to ring when it's potentially someone offering you money. With the work that I do now, there's really no benefit to answering the phone, other than avoiding an early termination. I love how alive working for yourself makes you. People would call me all the time asking for me to do things I one hundred percent had no expertise in. Usually I'd accept and fake my way through it. I definitely once did a thorough upholstery cleaning on two recliners with a simple spot cleaner after watching ten YouTube videos explaining how to do it. Not that ten YouTube videos is actually necessary to learn such a simple thing. I was just so excited to have the work and wanted to do a good job.
That's the difference. That's the thing that separates self-employment from working for someone else. It brings out the honest drive to provide value. Who cares how much effort you put forth for a company? It pays the same regardless. Employers lie and pretend you have a raise coming, and two years later give you another 25 cents an hour. It's an awful situation. Soul crushing. Traditional employment is not for me. I've known it for so long but been terrified to act. I've been homeless before. I absolutely don't want to lose the roof over my head.
Anyways, the quickest way to replace a 9-5 is with a service-based business. You're still trading time for money, but it's better. It helps keep the roof over your head, and, actually, if you're successful you're also building an income-producing asset. Your business can hire employees that earn you additional income. You can sell the business later and all of the supplies. There's a lot of good involved. I'm not sure I can let the fear win anymore. I don't live in an affluent neighborhood. I don't even live in a large town. If I earn the money that's around, I'm going to have to provide quite a lot of services.
And that's fine! I have ADHD. Who wants to do the same thing every day? I need novelty. And money. I'm going to start a business.
P.S. You guys are seeing the clues, right?
