What if You Just Don't Pay

But, just in case I can't afford it... Here's another thought entirely. Perhaps I just stop paying my credit card bills entirely. What are they gonna do, arrest me? I think the real consequences are within about six months they could sue me (around 180 days is generally the charge-off point; they can actually sue whenever), if they think I'm worth pursuing a judgment against. Then my wages can be garnished and my savings can be seized. One thing they might have to fight harder to seize, however, is revenue earned by a business and kept in a business checking account. I can't withdraw the money to eat, but at least that money is saved somewhere maybe a little safer for a bit...

And that's if they sue me at all. Here's another possibility. Credit card companies abandon their ideas to litigate and simply offer a settlement. Instead of paying $8k, they take $5k and close the account. That's a significant savings, and one that doesn't bother me morally because at this point I have probably already paid them the difference in interest anyways. My credit obviously takes a hit, but, whatever, you know? Credit's a scam anyways. My score randomly falls or raises twenty to thirty points all the time for absolutely no discernable reason.

The point of all of this thought? I can't think about my job anymore. It's occupying way too much mind space. All I can think about is getting out. I want to lead a fulfilling life. And I'm willing to take some risks. I'm unsettled by the thought of homelessness. I've been down that road before. So I'm gonna do my best to play it smart. I'm gonna bank a savings until they fire me or I quit, and I'm going to make a part of that savings harder to access by credit card companies by earning it through my two businesses. I don't know what I'm doing. But I absolutely know what I want. I hope you out there that can relate can find your own escape plans. Nobody should be bothered by low wages and awful companies that don't care about you and your well-being. Good luck, friends!

P.S. Ask your lawyer about laws. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
